druewildingI've had a few examples lately where i just don't notice any difference between Danish and English. They just feel like one language now.
I got an email from a Danish colleague written in English and i replied in Danish. That's quite normal for me; i almost always write in Danish if i know the person will understand it. The difference this time was that i didn't make a conscious choice about it. In fact, i didn't even notice any switch in language until after i'd sent my reply.
A friend sent me a photo of a Swedish decoration, asking if i knew what it said. I translated what i could understand of the Swedish text into English for my friend. But i completely failed to notice the word "Sverige". That didn't register as a "foreign" language for me, since it's the same in Danish. I also realised that i am completely unaware of whether or not the Swedish word for "Sweden" is widely known outside of Scandinavia.
A couple of times recently i have noticed myself making spelling mistakes in English. The ones i've noticed are "her" instead of "here" and "Danmark" instead of "Denmark". I wonder how many more i've made and not noticed!
